“Chhelian mare sher kim bateran mare baza,”
How did the lambs vanquish the loins? how quails hunted falcons?

“Au hakam mare rayytain yah Karmatahi kaja”
How did meek subjectts decimate the oppressive rulers? It was indeed miraculous.

About the Book “When Abdali’s Palanquin Trembled”

The past and present are delicately woven together with a single thread. So to analyse our present or for that matter the recent past we need to analyse our history. This book is an endeavour to study the Misl period of the Sikh history and understand the recent past and present .Misl period, besides being one of the most traumatic periods for the Sikh Quam, was also a period of complete metamorphosis. After Banda Singh Bahadur’s execution in 1716,the Sikhs were persecuted and oppressed by the Mughal authorities. Having a firm belief in the destiny of Khalsa to rule the land of five rivers, the Singhs started organising themselves. During the invasions of Ahmad Shah Abdali, an Afghan warlord and a more powerful foreign invader than the Mughals, the Sikhs from being freebooters and plunderers turned into an elite fighter force and sovereign rulers.

A  Note  from  authors

Author of the Book

The Book is an endeavor to make history palatable and more relatable for the people interested in knowing the story of there land. It has not been written for any research purposed. Our objective was to set a discourse in the community and urge every sikh to reflect on what has gone wrong. Why a community that had established a Raj and always remained in Chardi Kal, even in the times of trials and tribulations, is now stuck in a quagmire of despair.
